2017 Brain Aneurysm Symposium

The 2017 Symposium organized by the Tri-State Brain Aneurysm Support Group drew an attentive group of survivors, caregivers, family members and health care professionals to the conference center at the Mayfield Brain & Spine complex in the Rookwood Pavilion on April 29.

In addition to updates on the latest developments in medical techniques for aneurysm repair, the program included a presentation on diet and nutrition, a talk by a caregiver on the struggle to meet the needs of a young family as well as a husband recovering from a ruptured aneurysm, and a report from two TSBASG members on efforts to boost federal funding for brain aneurysm research.

An annual feature of the symposium is the presentation of the STAR Award (Standing Together for Aneurysm Recovery). This year's presentation went to Dawn Stonebreaker, shown above with her husband William and the key members of her medical team, Dr. Mario
